Public Health Campaigns

NHS England will be directing community pharmacies to deliver 5 directed public health
campaigns from April 2018 and March 2019 and are supporting this by providing packs of campaign material to each pharmacy.

The Campaigns

The proposed campaigns for 2018/19 are as follows.  Please note these are subject to change if any campaigns are directed nationally.

October 2018 Pharmacy First
December 2018 Stay Well Campaign (National Campaign)
February 2019 Pharmacy First (linked to the National Campaign)
Pharmacies will be supplied with a pack of material to support you to run each campaign. This
campaign material provides an excellent opportunity for community pharmacies to get behind the public
health message and promote healthy lifestyles.
It also presents an excellent opportunity for those of you who are working towards Healthy Living
Pharmacy (HLP) status, which is now part of the Quality Payment criteria, to develop your portfolio of evidence towards HLP accreditation.

What do I need to do?

You will be required to run the campaign for the whole of the month in question and record the number of patients that have engaged with the campaign.

A Public Health Campaign Record Sheet has been developed to help you log the interactions you have on a daily basis.
At the end of the campaign, you will be required to:
  • Inform NHS England that you have participated (Mandatory)
  • Inform NHS England how many patients were engaged (Mandatory)
  • You will also be asked to rate the material and how successful the campaign was (this is optional).

Please note, failure to report mandatory responses to NHS England may result in you breaching your terms of service.

How to Report

When you have completed the monthly campaign, you will need to confirmparticipation via a PharmOutcomes template. The PharmOutcomes template will be available for you to use at the start of the following month and recording of the information should only take a couple of minutes.

When must I have confirmed participation by?

Contractors will have 10 working days from the end of the campaign to submit their data.

How do I access PharmOutcomes?

If you are already using PharmOutcomes you will be able to access the Alcohol Awareness campaign template from your services tab using your current login and password at . If you are new to the system there are useful “Provider support Guides”, available in the “User guides” section on the “Help” page to talk you through login.  If you have never used PharmOutcomes before and don’t have login details you will need to request your system Activation code from the PharmOutcomes team. Go to the PharmOutcomes website access the Help Tab and “send a message” to request your Activation code. When you receive your Activation code enter the code in the section at the bottom left hand side of the help page in order to obtain your log in details.
